Grossman,
Stan (Fargo). Accountant,
business partner, and apparent right-hand man to Wade Gustafson. Throughout the
film, Grossman also serves as a so-called mediator for Wade and Jerry due to
their visible dislike for one another. He is revered by Jerry Lundegaard to be
a financial guru, even though he is partially responsible for the failed
outcome of Jerry’s elaborate scheme.
Grossman is first encountered when Jerry brings a promising real estate venture to Wade’s attention in order to get much needed capital to cover his embezzlement. In reality, Grossman and Wade plan to secure the deal for themselves while offering Jerry a meager finder’s fee.
Stan rears his head again as Jerry attempts to collect the “ransom” from his father-in-law for his wife’s safe return. Although Stan attempts to console Jerry by assuring him that he is in charge of the drop, Grossman shows his true colors when he sides yet again with Wade about the ransom’s delivery terms. After Jerry discovers the botched transfer, Stan is last mentioned by Jerry’s son when he says that he called the house.
Grossman is portrayed by Larry Brandenburg (1948- ).
The character Stan Grossman also is referenced in the 2006
movie Little Miss Sunshine. His namesake in the film
serves as an agent to the main character, Richard. –Ella Carpenter
