Attebery
Fritz Leiber (1910-1992)
began publishing in the thirties as a fantasist; his "Fafhrd" stories founded,
and excelled in, the subgenre known as Sword and Sorcery. He also wrote
inventive fantasies in modern settings, such as Conjure Wife (195);
filmed as Bum, Witch, Bum), and science fiction novels such as Wanderer
(1964)·
He crossed genres freely in his short stories, collected in The Best
of Fritz Leiber (1974) and Worlds of Fritz Leiber (1976),
but by no means all his best work has yet been reprinted. He had six Hugo
Awards, three Nebulas, and the Grand Master of Fantasy Award. |
